PSA Time Slots

Philippine Statistics Office (PSA) certified documents are basically the requirements for passport processing, school records and others.

And today is not the same as the past days I been coming. Today and I did not ask when it started, they do not let you in and line up in a cue. Instead, you are given a number for a slot.

Example I got mine number 322 and this number is designated to go at 2:31 PM.

Once you reach PSA and they ran out of numbers for time slots, you will have to get back the next day, which was what happened to me. I went to PSA at about 1pm and they ran out of time slots to give out.

*No more pila sa PSA Baguio, by time slot na*

1. What is an Apostille and when do I need one?

An Apostille is a certificate that authenticates the origin of a public document. It is issued by a country that is party to the Apostille Convention to be used in another country which is also a party to the Convention.

On 14 May 2019, the Philippines will officially become a party to the Apostille Convention. Authentication is still required for all Philippine documents to be used abroad, but this time with an Apostille instead of an Authentication Certificate ("red ribbon") as proof of authentication.
After authentication (Apostillization) by the Department of Foreign Affairs - Office of Consular Affairs (DFA-OCA), as Competent Authority, there is no more need for authentication (legalization) by the Foreign Embassies or Consulates except for countries that have not acceded to the Convention and countries that objected to the Philippine accession.

Ms. Artist Passport released

Last November 5, 2021, Ms. S (privacy respected) personally received her 15 year old daughters*s passport. Photo is at the Food Court of the mall.

Her daughter is an avid and talented artist and I watched her drawing with awe while waiting for her cue during her personal appearance at the DFA.
Most kids surf thru the net using their gadgets, her daughter draw. And she loves to draw anime characters. I will ask if she could share one with us one of her works.

We had to resolve the prerequisites by the mother, in the meantime assisting her teen age girl.

So the processing to DFA was hitting 2 birds with one stone.

Here, while mother submits her finally released PSA birth certificate , which was NSO certified but was not uploaded into the PSA system, upon which we had to work on for the local civil registrar where she was born will send it to PSA Baguio for uploading, she also received the copy of her kids passport at the age of 15.

Take note that minors* passports are good only for five (5) years because they change and outgrow what they used to look like.
